Commissions invites to public hearing on the Strategic EU Energy Review. Following the open debate on the Green Paper that was launched in March 2006, you can express directly your views as to the content of the Strategic EU Energy Review that is to be adopted by the Commission on 10 January 2007. To this end, a public hearing has been organised in Brussels (Room S3, Charlemagne Building, rue de la Loi 170, Brussels) on Friday 22 September 2006, starting at 9h30. ec.europa.eu/yourvoice/ipm/forms/dispatch?form=energyreview

EUREC Agency publishes recommendations for horizontal research topics pertaining to renewable energy that should be covered in FP7. There is much research of relevance to renewable energy that does not fall neatly under one of the three categories to be found in the European Commission’s proposal for FP7:  “Renewable electricity generation”, “Renewables for heating and cooling” and  “Renewable fuel production”.

EUREC technology transfer project selects 12 proposals for commercialisation.

A dozen promising research results in the field of renewable energy have been selected for support in commercialisation by a new initiative to promote technology transfer. This initiative is the first of its kind to adopt an EU-wide and sectorial approach to technological innovation based on public research results.

European Parliament earmarks 2/3 of FP7 energy budget for renewable energy and energy efficiency research . Voting in Strasbourg yesterday, the European Parliament adopted an amendment calling for approximately two thirds of the funding for non-nuclear energy research in the Seventh Framework Programme for Research, Development and Technical Demonstration (‘FP7’) to be directed towards renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency and savings.
