The European Commission is organising a conference on Sustainable Development from the 26th to the 29th May at the Charlemagne Builiding in Brussels.
The programme of the event is currently under development with the support of a Scientific Committee, chaired by Prof. Jaeger from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the European Climate Forum

This Committee is pleased to invite submissions of papers for this conference. Professionals and graduate students worlwide are welcome to submit their papers by noon 15 January 2009.

The papers can be of three kinds:
  1. presentation of highly specialised discoveries or outstanding inventions of relevance for sustainable development
  2. reflection on the challenge of sustainable development in the years and decades to come;
  3. proposals for how to strengthen European Research in the perspective of sustainable development

Inside the conference building there will be an exhibition providing space for some 50 stands where organisations with activities related to the theme of the conference will be on display.

The registration for the event is free and will be possible from January 2009.
