The Governing Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology yesterday selected 'InnoEnergy' as the sustainable energy Knowledge and Innovation Community ('KIC'). As at 17 December, the InnoEnergy consortium website contained very little information, but this article describes it as a network of six co-location centres: Stockholm-Uppsala (KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology plus Uppsala University) Barcelona (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya plus CIEMAT). Eindhoven-Leuven (TU Eindhoven, KU Leuven), Karlsruhe (KIT), Grenoble (Grenoble INP) and Krakow (AGH University of Science and Technology). The co-ordinator of the winning consortium, KIT, also co-ordinated a pilot project financed by the European Commission exploring what KICs could look like. EUREC Agency wishes the InnoEnergy much success and looks forward to working with it on matters relating to renewable energy technology. We last covered the EIT in March. |
