Mission

The mission of CIEMAT is to contribute to the sustainable development of the country and the quality of life of its citizens, through the generation and application of scientific and technological knowledge.

Laboratories/Facilities

National Centre for Development of Renewable Energies (CEDER), Located in Soria, this facility includes biomass laboratories (Experimental plots: Energy crops, Biomass Characterisation Laboratory, etc.); Wind power (Small Wind Turbine Test Plants, LFlywheel Test Laboratory, small blade test plant) and Demonstration and Research Building Prototype.

Almeria Solar Platform (PSA): Located in Almería (Andalusia) this facility includes CESA-1 and SSPS-CRS central receiver systems,  SSPS-DCS parabolic-trough collector system, with associated thermal storage system and water desalination plant; DISS  test loop, an excellent experimental system for two-phase flow and direct steam generation for electricity production research; The FRESDEMO “linear Fresnel” technology loop; The parabolic-trough collector system called the “Innovative Fluids Test Loop” ; 6-unit DISTAL dish/Stirling facility; A 60-kWt solar furnace for thermal materials treatments; A solar chemistry facility for solar detoxification; Laboratory for Energy Testing of Building Components (LECE);  Meteorological station forming part of the “Baseline Surface Radiation Network” (BSRN).
