Mission

The Centre for Renewable Energy Sources CRES is the Greek national entity for the promotion of renewable energy sources, rational use of energy and energy conservation.

Objectives

As a Research and Technological Centre for RES (renewable energy sources)/RUE/ (rational use of energy)/ ES (energy saving), by developing applied research for the new energy technologies and by technically supporting the market for the penetration and the implementation of these technologies.

Technology expertise

In depth expertise in all aspects of the RES technologies represented by the departments that is in Wind energy, including Offshore Wind, Biomass including Biodiesel, Photovoltaic systems, Smart Grids, Combi-solar systems and CSP, Geothermal Energy, Geothermal Heat Pumps, EGS systems and RES and hydrogen technologies, Small hydroelectric plants and Wave energy.

The expertise focuses on applied and innovative research, demonstration and development, due diligent studies, as well as consultancy to innovative RES solutions.

Main research topics

Research projects and development, demonstration projects, energy policy studies, development of energy information systems and energy modelling, investment feasibility studies, technical and economic studies, environmental impact assessments, market research as well as activities for the promotion of RES/RUE/ES.
