The SSPCR 2017 international conference is organised by EURAC Research – Institute for Renewable Energy – Research group for Urban and Regional Energy Systems. This second edition of "Smart and Sustainable Planning for Cities and Regions” – SSPCR 2017 – faces the challenge of inspiring the transition of urban areas towards smarter and more sustainable places to live. Towards this aim, planners and stakeholders are called to take over – in a multidimensional perspective – both the urgent issues related to climate change and energy efficiency, and the new potential changes introduced by cities’ digitalization and the integration of ICT in infrastructures, mobility, and social interactions.
SSPCR 2017 is also a high level international communication platform for academics, researchers, professionals and decision-makers – is the right place to present your latest experiences and findings and to share your thoughts in a friendly atmosphere. Delegates will have the opportunity to meet local industries and to discuss future project ideas on smart and sustainable planning. More details on "B2B” days are available here.
- SSPCR 2017 has the pleasure to welcome as new keynote speaker Dr. Pierre Laconte, President of the Foundation for the Urban Environment (FFUE) and past-President of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP). Dr. Laconte is a well regarded expert of urban planning and public transport. Here you may find recent information on his latest publication on "Sustainable cities. Assessing the Performance and Practice of Urban Environments”.
- The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) just joined the team as official partner of SSPCR 2017. The organization is mainly focused on promoting policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. OECD policy analyst Alessandra Proto will join our Scientific Committee. Dr. Proto is manager of entrepreneurship, innovation, SME and tourism related activities at the LEED Trento Centre for Local Development.
- The proceedings of the previous edition, SSPCR 2015, have been published by Springer. Purchasing and text preview are available online at the Google books website.
