The decarbonisation of our economies will not happen without tackling the Heating and Cooling sector, which represents almost half of our energy consumption.
Renewable energy sources able to provide direct heat to households and industries are available and should be promoted to efficiently decarbonize the heating and cooling sector. In the framework of the IEE FROnT project, a survey has been conducted to analyse end-consumers key decision factors when choosing a heating or cooling system. It results that the main barriers to switching to a renewable system are the lack of awareness and difficult financing.
Local authorities, consumer organisations and representatives of the manufacturing industry have an important role to play in tacking these barriers. During this event, they will gather and discuss challenges and opportunities for the deployment of renewables in the heating and cooling sector, in order to ensure a true decarbonisation of our economies and honour our COP-21 commitments.
