HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht will host the conference ‘Sustainable Built Environment 2016: TRANSITION ZERO − SBE16’ on 7-8 April 2016 in the historical city of Utrecht(the Netherlands).
The SBE Conference series − promoted by iiSBE, UNEP-SBO and FIDIC − is considered to be the pre-eminent international conference on sustainable building and construction. During this Utrecht SBE16 conference you will meet technology transition professionals in urban sustainability from the Netherlands and from around the world. A unique opportunity for you to be informed about the latest developments and international best practices in urban sustainability.
The main theme of the conference is ‘From Demonstrations to large-scale NET-Zero Refurbishment’.
The four conference topics are:
- Upscaling: from prototypes and concepts to market introduction and business models.
- Circular processes: models & materials and construction chains.
- Small urban area: energy optimizing systems, participation of inhabitants, and quality of life.
- Governance: legislation & policies, stakeholder involvement and impact of local authorities.
The programme of the conference comprises two plenary sessions with inspiring guest speakers such as Stef Blok (Dutch minister of Housing), eco-architect Bill Dunster, one-planet-architect Thomas Rau and Member of the European Parliament Gerbert-Jan Gerbrandy. Furthermore, eight small-scale interactive sessions will be organised, featuring 45 interactive presentations on the conference topics.
We also have a special programme for young professionals – the Young Professionals Event (on 8 April) – in which students teams will compete for the Transition Zero Award. Side visits in the pre-programme of 6 April will provide you fascinating insights into Utrecht as a smart sustainable Net-Zero city.
