SFERA launches its third access campaign
The European project Solar Facilities for the European Research Area (SFERA) has launched its 3rd call for high-quality research proposals in the solar power field.
SFERA partners CIEMAT (Spain), CNRS (France), PSI (Switzerland), WEIZMANN (Israel) and ENEA (Italy) will provide free access to their installations, accommodation and travel/subsistence during the period of activities in their high-flux solar research facilities, unique in the world. The facilities are suitable for high-risk/high-reward fundamental research as well as more established applied research on technology that is closer to market.
Proposals are invited in the following areas:
- Solar thermal electricity generation: thermodynamic cycles, receivers, thermal storage, concentrating optics, control algorithms, etc.
- Solar production of benign chemical energy carriers: H2, syngas, etc.
- Cycles for chemical storage of solar energy: ZnO, etc.
- Solar water treatment: desalination, disinfection, detoxification.
- Research in basic phenomena and nano-material production processes: fullerenes, C-nanotubes, ceramics, etc.
- Knowledge-based high-added-value material synthesis: ceramics, glass, etc.
- High-flux photochemistry and photo-physics.
- Basic knowledge of materials behavior and aging under extreme conditions.
Applicants must complete the proposal form online and submit their projects to the SFERA Access Committee by February 29th.
Further details (including general descriptions of the available European solar facilities) are on the proposal form, http://sfera.sollab.eu/proposal_form.php
